What fits in a 30-yard dumpster?
A 30-yard dumpster holds about 10–15 pickup-truck loads of debris. Typical jobs that fit are listed below. These are typical examples, not limits; the weight of the debris decides the final bill more than the space it takes.
- Framing, drywall and packaging from a home addition
- A full-house carpet, drywall and fixture tear-out
- A large estate or hoarder cleanout with bulky furniture
- Construction cleanup on a new-build lot
Will a 30-yard dumpster go over the weight limit?
A 30-yard dumpster includes 4 tons (8,000 lb). The 30-yard is about volume, not weight. Mixed construction debris weighs far less per yard than shingles or concrete, so a full 30-yard of framing scrap and drywall usually stays closer to the included tons than a full 20-yard of roofing.
Worked example: your 30-yard includes 4 tons. The scale ticket shows 4.36 tons net. You pay for 0.36 tons (720 lb) at $75 per ton, which is $27.00. We charge the exact pound and never round up to the next ton.

Will a 30-yard dumpster fit in my driveway?
The 30-yard dumpster needs a level spot about 22 feet long and 8 feet wide. The roll-off truck typically needs about 60 feet of straight approach and about 23 feet of overhead clearance to set it down. Our drivers place wooden boards under the steel rails so concrete and asphalt do not crack or scratch.
Keep the spot clear of parked cars, low wires and locked gates. If the driver arrives and cannot place the bin, a $125 trip fee applies. Driveway and street placement guide.
Is the 30-yard the right size, or should I go up or down?
Too small means a second haul, and a swap is billed as a new flat-rate rental. Too big means paying for space you do not fill. When volume is the question and the debris is light, round up. When the debris is heavy, the weight limit decides, not the volume.

30-yard dumpster questions
What fits in a 30-yard dumpster?
About 10 to 15 pickup loads by volume, assuming an 8-foot pickup bed loaded level holds about 2 to 3 cubic yards. It suits additions, big tear-outs and large cleanouts.
Is a 30-yard dumpster taller than a 20-yard?
The 30-yard is 6 feet tall on the outside, 2 feet taller than the 20-yard, on the same 22 × 8 ft footprint. Plan on a step or ramp for loading by hand.
Can a 30-yard dumpster go on a residential driveway?
The 30-yard needs the same 22 × 8 ft spot as the 20-yard, so many driveways take it. The added height and weight make firm, level concrete the best surface.
Should I get two 20-yards or one 30-yard?
One 30-yard costs one rental, while a second 20-yard counts as a new flat-rate rental. Pick two 20-yards only when the debris is heavy or the space is short.
